When I need to know the latest trends in IT, I have dime a dozen web sites that offer the hottest news right from the mouths of the inventor(?).
But what about other fields..like physics/chemisty/pharmacy..where can I search for the latest news on these fields?

you mean the latest equipments or technology? the thing is most of the latest research is bit too complicated for a common man to read and latest tchnologies do appear in different companis catalogs. So depending on the type of industry you have different catalogs which publishes the latest trends and technologies. But details will always be spared for the sake of IP. Its mostly u pick up some of these in google or some odd website when you are searching for something else. I ve never come across anything like what you are asking for.
